Fostering.... The Truth.

Here is our family ---------------------------------->

Add two little Hispanic foster girls and you've got it! They are the cutest, sweetest, little Angels.

We didn't plan on taking more kids right now, in fact, after my husband's dad was diagnosed with cancer last year we took our names off the list. Even with our names off the list, we got calls often. We always said no, now wasn't the time for us. About 4 weeks ago we got another call and something was different, we knew we needed to help. Funny thing is, if you had asked us if we could take 2 more kids full time, we would have said NO! But after the first week of having them in our home, we realized that in Fact, We Could Care For A Lot More Kids!

It's surprising how you Don't think you can handle something, until you're faced with that challenge. Adding the 2 girls has it's challenges, but it Really Has been the greatest blessing we have had in A LONG time. PLEASE take a minute to consider foster care. After all, November IS National Adoption Month!!

  1. Foster care is definitely not for hte faint of heart. I met with a FM, last week, who actually works with RISE, so she is dealing with a young man who has severe emotional issues, as well as developmental issues. And this is her first foster experience. I feel bad for her because I don't think she is very well equipped to handle his behaviors, nor do I think she is getting enough support from staff.

    I'm sure you would have been one of my favorite families to work with when I was with DCFS.
